Prompt
The figures in the painting gather into small groups to continue in quiet discussion. Some move left and others move right. The light from the windows seems to shimmer and cast moving shadows.
Body
Another of the 1976 Bicentennial souvenir sheets, this one showcases what is perhaps the most iconic image of the founding of the United States. Trumbull's painting is a revered depiction of the moment the drafters of the Declaration of Independence presented their work to the Second Continental Congress. The souvenir sheet is composed of five 18-cent stamps, each highlighting a section of the larger painting. This format allows for a detailed appreciation of the many historical figures portrayed in this seminal event.
