Prompt
The fog at the base of Jagged Mountain could slowly swirl and dissipate, revealing more of the rugged landscape. The light could catch the sharp edges of the peak, making them glisten. A lone eagle could soar into the frame and circle the summit before flying off.

The issuance of the Colorado Statehood 150th Anniversary stamp on January 24, 2026, will mark another chapter in the state's philatelic history. The first-day-of-issue ceremony is planned to be held at the History Colorado Center in Denver. The stamp's design, featuring John Fielder's photograph "Foggy Jagged Mountain, Weminuche Wilderness," was chosen to represent the untamed spirit of Colorado. Jagged Mountain, a formidable 13,824-foot peak in the Needle Mountains range, is not part of a national park but lies within the vast and protected Weminuche Wilderness, the largest wilderness area in Colorado. This choice of subject matter highlights the importance of wilderness preservation and the rugged, often inaccessible beauty that defines much of the state. John Fielder (1950-2023) dedicated his life to photographing Colorado's landscapes, and his work has been instrumental in promoting conservation efforts. This stamp serves as a tribute to both Colorado's sesquicentennial and to an artist who so perfectly captured its essence.
